Air Brake Chamber Manufacturers

An air brake chamber is a system that converts compressed air pressure into mechanical force. This force is then used to rotate a brake camshaft. This system is highly reliable and requires no special maintenance. Its parts are an air inlet, a cover, a diaphragm, a support disk, push rod, connecting fork, and a clamp. Some air brake chamber manufacturers also offer high-speed operation, allowing you to brake at high speeds and maintain safety.
The rated volume of an air brake chamber is the volume of air that a vehicle can move through it. Typically, this volume is larger than the "nominal" displacement of an air brake chamber. This is because the "rated volume" of a brake chamber does not account for the void ahead of the relaxed piston or diaphragm. Also, the displaced volume must include the pre-fill volume.
Air brake chambers are available in two standard sizes, as well as in long-stroke versions. Standard-stroke chambers are typically 2.5 inches long, while long-stroke chambers are three inches long. Long-stroke chambers require a special system. However, they can add an extra margin of safety for the driver and eliminate brake drag. Long-stroke chambers are becoming increasingly common on newer trucks.
When replacing the air brake chamber, it is important to buy the correct type. Different types of brake chambers have different dimensions, and it is important to make sure you get the right one for your car. Spring brakes have different dimensions than service chambers. For example, the first type is designed for emergency braking, and the second is for parking and service brakes.
Spring brakes feature a second chamber attached to the rear section. This type is used to apply a parking or emergency brake when the air brake system is failing. Spring brakes have separate air supplies and diaphragms, and are more expensive. However, they can be found on certain vehicles, mostly off-highway equipment and buses.
Another major concern in brake chambers is the measurement of the volume. This will determine whether the existing air reservoir can be used or whether a new one is necessary. Fortunately, the NHTSA has begun to create a standard, known as FMVSS-121, for this purpose. Prior to the creation of FMVSS-121, some vehicle manufacturers used the standard SAE J813 to determine the volume.
In addition to the air brake chamber, the parking brake assembly also has a caging bolt that you can replace. This is vital for servicing your parking brake as well as towing your vehicle. Its caging bolt is connected to the service chamber, and once air is released from the parking brake, it forces the piston assembly back into its seated position.
